These two pictures are from november 2000, when I had the car for only a week.
I had to photograph it for the insurance company, but with a borrowed
digital camera, the results were not too impressive. Still, it gives a
good view of the car. Click on these and the other pics to get a larger
view.
I write this and the other pages in english, since most of the Europa owners that I
know are from outside of Denmark. I hope with these pages to give people unfamiliar with
the Europa an idea of what sort of car it is. And I hope there's something of interest for
other Europa owners.
The following three pics were emailed to me by the previous owner, and it
was largely based on them and his description, that I decided to travel
1050km to the south of Germany to look at the car in the hope of buying
it. As you can imagine, this is how the story went....
I bought it from Mr. Johannes Ditz, who had the car from 1992. The car is
almost in its original state, and has been taken well care of by the
previous owners. The modifications are:
Front suspension is lowered.
Engine was rebuild in 1996.
Federal carbs and crossover pipes are converted to European Elan
specifications.
US side lamps have been removed by the PO. Looks OK in the back, but
it left some rather large cutouts in the front (see the repair page).
Johannes Ditz also owns a nice Europa S2, unfortunately I've only seen it on pictures.
At the time of my visit he was also restoring a genuine Type47 Europa Racer. He has now
completed this task and the final result can be seen on his homepage
http:\\www.mditz.de (looks good on pictures!).
For the winter 2000-2001, the car was parked in a car sales room close to my home.
This way it could be stored dry and warm. I drove by it to and from work
and I visited it whenever I wanted to. Made the arrangement a bit more
bearable. In the winter 2001-2002, I've enlarged my own garage, this way
getting a permanent place for it for the winters.
These photos are from january 2001 in the winter store:
